Answers to the most common questions

Question - What is it?

Answer - Broadband is simply a fast, permanently connected, link to the Internet. For more information about what it can do for you try the Broadband link on the left.

Question - When Can I have it?

Answer - Now! (Probably) All exchanges have been enabled but some spot still can't get it due to their ditance from the exchange. NOW is the moment to get involved if you would like ADSL and are still not able to get it as the funding will taper off over the next few months.

Question - How much does it cost?

Answer - Standard ADSL starts from around £15 per month but there are many options and the market is changing rapidly.

What is MAX?

MAX is the new style ADSL being introduced by BT Wholeale. It allows the ADSL modem and exchange to adjust the speed of the line to give you the maximum throughput upto 8Mb if you are close to the exchange. MAX gets the best from your lines and costs little more than the old style lines. A good technical description is here: Max by Adrian Kennard
