Still can't get Broadband ?
Even though all of Staffordshire's target exchange areas under the Rural Broadband Access Project (RBAP) will be enabled by the middle of May, some people, who are either too far away from exchanges or are served by unsuitable infrastructure, are finding it difficult to access a Broadband service.
However, all is not lost ! The West Midlands Networking Company WMNC through RBAP is supporting a range of alternative means to getting Broadband via satelite or wirless to clusters of potential users in even the most remote rural areas.
This message is being rolled out across Staffordshire via press releases and the by distribution of a special flyer by local Broadband campaigners and community organisations which outlines the three straight forward steps to follow which may lead to rural communities and businesses accessing Broadband:
- Check Broadband availability for each exchange are using BT's Broadband telephone number check on www.bt.com/broadband
- If Broadband is available, place an order with any well known Broadband ISP (Internet Service Provider)
- If Broadband availabilty is uncertain, still place and order with an ISP. If the ISP confirms that providing a Broadband service can not be provided, ask for written confirmation.
- With this confirmation of non-service, the West Midlands Networking Company may be able to help with finding an alternative solution, such as wireless or satelite. Further details can be found on the WMNC website www.thepowerofbroadband.co.uk
If you haven't seen or got a copy of the flyer, please contact karina.harvey-moore@staffordshire.gov.uk or click on the link below.(Or alternatively click the Uploads folder and you can access the flyer there too).
