Following the successful Broaband enablement of rural exchanges in Staffordshire Moorlands on the 14th February, a number of Internet Service Providers (ISP) are reporting a healthy interest in Broadband with local rural businesses and members of the community registering orders for service.

This highlights the importance of Internet communitcation in rural areas and thanks to the Rural Broadband Access Project, many people in remote rural communities will be able to access fast, reliable and affordable Broadband services.

The easiest way to find out what level of Broaband service is available in specific areas, rural businesses and members of the community are being urged to register their interest by following these easy steps:

  • Check Broadband availability for your exchange area using BT's Broadband Postcode checker.
  • If Broadband is available or could be available in your exchange area, place a Broadband service order with an ISP
  • If Broadband availability is questionable then alternative Broadband solutions, such as wireless or satelite may still be an option. Look on the website of the West Midlands Networking Company (WMNC) www.the powerofbroadband.co.uk for more details.
