ITS HERE AT LAST!!!!
Yes that's right folks, after what seems like a life-time of hard work, lobbying, roadshows, meetings etc, the time has finally arrived where we now know that Broadband will be coming to those areas that have been struggling for so long without it!
The news is excellent, as from this morning we were made aware that WMNC has signed a contract with BT for the delivery of the exchange enablement programme for 24 target exchange areas in the West Midlands, eigth of which are in Staffordshire County.
The expected enablement dates are as follows:
Alstonfields - Februrary 2006
Blackshaws - February 2006
Hollington - February 2006
Onecote - February 2006
Rudyard - February 2006
Fradley - February 2006
Wetwood - April 2006
Hamstall Ridware - June 2006
RBAP also includes work to tackle "non spot" areas or communities where there is poor connectivity to Broadband services. The Staffordshire Broadband Steering Group will be working with WMNC and BT to identify "non spot" communities to ensure all residents have the access to Broadband enjoyed elsewhere in the county and the West Midlands.
When exchange areas are enabled it is planned to hold celebration events highlighting the benefits of Broadband to members of the community and rural businesses.
RBAP will be a real success story involving partnership working between the Regional Development Agency, Advantage West Midlands, Local Authorities, Business Link, Local Voluntary Services, the Village Agents Scheme and local Broadband campaigners.
If there are any changes to the above information, we will keep you notified as soon as we hear anything! Keep watching on www.sbsg.info
