One of the technologies that may well bring broadband to rural areas is Powerline Broadband whereby the signals are transmitted along the powerlines which bring your electricity.
North Staffordshire has been slated as the area where some trials of this technology take place. If the major players like Google are putting up large sums of money it may well accelerate the development of high speed links.
