RBAP to tackle Enabled Communities with Poor Broadband Service
The West Midlands Networking Company has confirmed that the Rural Broadband Access Project contract awarded to BT will also include tackling Broadband service problems in communities where exchanges have been enabled.
BT has already identified areas of poor service, or "non-spot" postcode areas where they already know that access to Broadband remains a problem.
The Staffordshire Broadband Steering Group will be seeking to identify other "non-spot" areas of the county through local Broadband campaigners, voluntary and community organisations and via members of the community leaving messages on the www.sbsg.info. This information can then be forwarded to the West Midlands Networking Company and BT to ensure that Broadband services are fully available across the county.
The Steering Group will be enlisting the help of the Staffordshire Rural Hub, a network set up to support and diversify rural businesses, to help identify rural businesses and farms who need Broadband services but are currently experiencing problems in the quality or availability of Broadband.
The Rural Hub can be contacted using the links folder, by visiting www.getrural.co.uk or by contacting Rural Hub Co-ordinator Pat Pimlott 01785 278581
NB information on "non-spot" areas of poor Broadband service can be left for the Staffordshire Broadband Steering Group using the "Wiki" link on http://sbsg.info/wiki/ADSLDeadSpots
Members of the community will be asked to leave the following details;
- Postcode
- Village or town name
- Nature of poor Broadband service, i.e. no service, poor service or expensive service
