Rural Broadband Access Grants

Document Actions

WMNC remain determined to achieve the Rural Broadband objective of 100% broadband coverage for the West Midlands.

The RBAP project has ensured that every BT Exchange in the region will have broadband access by May 12th - that's 100% of exchanges.

The wireless projects with Avanti and Qicomm will extend coverage to known not-spots where broadband is unavailable from BT and this will extend broadband to another 2,200 premises.

However being aware that there are still isolated premises and small clusters that remain outside our coverage and the need to address those as well. Which is where Rural Broadband Access Grants come in. What are they? Grants of up to £3000 towards the capital and one off costs of getting broadband, which in most cases will of necessity be provided by a connection to a Satellite service.

For clusters of about 10 premises WMNC will extend the RBAP coverage and enable these as an additional Lot with one of our Wireless operators.
